Snippets

Snippets are short pieces of custom text content you add directly in the dashboard. Use them for corrections, FAQ answers, or special instructions that guide how the co-pilot responds.

When to Use

  • You need to correct or clarify something from another source
  • You want to add FAQ answers without creating a full document
  • You need to give the co-pilot specific instructions for certain topics
  • You want to fill gaps in your existing documentation

Creating a Snippet

1
Go to Knowledge in the dashboard

Open the Pillar dashboard and navigate to the Knowledge section.

2
Add a new source

Click Add Source and select Snippets.

3
Add snippet content

Enter a title and the content for your snippet. You can also add custom instructions that tell the co-pilot how to use this content.

4
Save

Click Create. The snippet is indexed immediately.

Examples

Correcting outdated information

If your docs mention a deprecated feature, add a snippet:

Title: Pricing page update

Content: The Starter plan is now $29/month, not $19/month as shown in some documentation. The plan includes 5 seats and 10,000 messages per month.

Adding FAQ answers

For common questions that aren't covered in your docs:

Title: How to cancel a subscription

Content: To cancel your subscription, go to Settings → Billing → Cancel Plan. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are available within 14 days of charge.

Custom AI instructions

Guide how the co-pilot handles specific topics:

Title: Competitor comparison policy

Content: When users ask about competitors, focus on what our product does well. Don't make negative claims about other products. Redirect to our comparison page at /compare for details.

Tips

  • Keep snippets focused on a single topic for better retrieval
  • Use clear titles — the co-pilot uses them to find relevant snippets
  • Snippets are always current since you edit them directly (no sync needed)
  • Add custom instructions to control how the co-pilot uses the content
