Upload Process
Open the Pillar dashboard and navigate to the Knowledge section.
Click Add Source and select Files.
Drag and drop files into the upload zone, or click to browse. You can upload multiple files at once.
Give your source a name and click Create. Pillar will process and index the uploaded files.
Processing
After upload, each file goes through:
- Text extraction — Content is extracted from the document
- Processing — Content is cleaned and optimized for retrieval
- Indexing — Content is embedded and made searchable
Processing typically takes a few seconds per document. You can check the status of each item in the dashboard.
Updating Content
To update a file, upload the new version to the same source. Pillar detects changes via content hashing and reprocesses only what changed.
To remove a file, delete it from the source's item list in the dashboard.
Tips
- Use descriptive file names — they help the co-pilot understand context
- Break large documents into smaller, focused files for better retrieval accuracy
- Check the processed content in the dashboard to verify extraction quality
